Close to Home began as a landscape series during lock-down; and since then has become my primary photographic portfolio. The photographs in this gallery do not depict specific identifiable places but offer a very intimate view of places in rural mid-Suffolk. Many of the pictures in this gallery are taken just a stone's throw from my back gate while some are a little further afield, for example Dunwich or Covheith. I have an intuitive interest in personifying nature and transposing my thoughts and emotions onto each subject, particularly trees and the tiny un-admired plant life by marrying light and the environment around me.
I have just launched my new seven week course which aims to explore your relationship to the things you identify with in the rural landscape around Suffolk. I will take you through how to build visual narratives using in-camera technique over 3 different locations. The cornerstone of this experience will be personalised tuition that ensures everyone is provided the attention and support that will allow for their skills to be honed effectively to get the best the experience. More information on the course's plan can be found by clicking on the tuition page, I hope to see you there!
