Session Information

Hello Photographers,

From March to November 2026, I am offering one-to-one Creative Photography sessions, for everyone from improvers (some understanding of the DSLR functions, can operate the camera off Auto) to more experienced photographers (uses Manual settings confidently)

Each session is 4 hours long and can be entirely face to face or three hours face to face and followed up by an optional one hour online editing session, we will negotiate a time post face to face session.

Breaks: We will have a break with home-baked snacks: first break 30 minutes and another optional 15 minute break.

We will work at one of these locations, it is your choice:

Woodbridge area,  Orwell Country Park, Thornham Walks.

The sessions will focus on extending your knowledge and approach, but you can choose one of these themes, as starting points.  They are:

  • Working with semi-automatic and manual settings for improvers

  • Working with manual settings to create dynamic landscapes (experienced)

  • Using props in the landscape

  • Exploring slow shutter speed with an evening/night-time option

  • Exploring slow shutter speed (night shoot from March to May, times will vary depending on sunset, earliest latest 10.30pm) – daytime or night-time – you will need a tripod and ND filter, please quote if you prefer to shoot during the day or the evening. Personally, I think the best leaarning willl come from crossing from daylight into night, suggestions for time are below.

  • Using additional light, flash (supplied) torch llight – daytime or night-time (night shoot from March to May – you will need a tripod/ND filter/outdoor clothing/torch

  • March (before BST : Meet 4pm finish 7-8pm)

  • April (BST) : Meet 5.30pm – Finish 8.30-9.30pm

  • May: Meet: 6.30pm Finish: 9.30-10.30pm

About my teaching style

I am a qualified teacher and before becoming freelance taught in further and higher education and often designed projects to introduce the students to the extraordinary breadth the medium has to offer both in-camera and through editing technique.

About my approach to photography

I have always approached photography as a means of self-expression and used my environment and sometimes additional objects, as my tools to explore what I have to say through the lens.  I love how light interacts with everything from the hedgerows to coastal scenes.  I sometimes use simple household props in the landscape to support more surreal ideas or other photographic techniques.

Note: please let  me know of any accessibility requirements, and we can work around this remembering that these will be quite long days.
